What is a Fiverr Gig?
So what is Fiverr gig if you’re reading this article you’ve probably come across this website because you’ve heard of Fiverr and you understand that it’s a freelancing platform that connects freelancers like myself to potential buyers all over the world, right? Freelancers are people who offer services for sale and buyers are people who need those services either for themselves or their businesses and they purchase them from the freelancers.
What a gig is? A gig is essentially an ad that you’re able to place or create on Fiverr to advertise your services. It’s the place where buyers will find you, it’s the place where buyers will read about the services that you are offering and ultimately, it’s the place where they will be able to select which package and what prices they want to pay you up to do a particular service and check out and pay for their order. A gig is the way that Fiverr manages orders and sales on their platform.
How Fiverr Gigs Differ from Hourly Billing
so when you think about freelancing you know what most commonly will come to mind is doing a specific task and charging per hour. Fiverr doesn’t do that and I think it’s pretty beneficial to new sellers or more experienced freelancers alike. The reason is by using this gig system where I as a copywriter Post a gig offering a specific service for sale. I can figure out what it’s going to cost me from a time and resources perspective to complete that gig. I can set a flat cost for whatever I want to make sure that no matter what I’m getting paid that much for that gig.
It’s awesome and the reason it’s awesome is because when you think about working per hour or billing hours there are a lot of situations you can get into as a seller. That is just kind of a pain to deal with.
Advantages of Fiverr’s Gig System
let me give you an example, let’s say you’re taking on a larger project and you know quote the client “Heythis might take 100 hours for me to complete and I charge 100 per hour” and they agree to it. That’s great but what happens if you consume that budget you’ve done 100 hours of work but you realize that it’s going to take another 20 hours to finish the project. Now you’re in a situation where you need to tell the buyer this you need to get them to agree to pay you for the additional 20 hours. And usually, when you know a buyer hears that what they bought is going to cost more than what they expected.
They’re probably not going to be happy and you know in the world of freelancing you want happy buyers to give you good ratings and refer you to other people. It just might become a sticky situation on Fiverr you don’t have that situation you know like one of my gigs I offer marketing emails I know that to write one email for it to be worth my time I need to charge 35, right when a buyer’s buying from me they see my gig they see that it costs 35 they see that 435 dollars they get one email and they see the exact number of words I’m willing to put into that email. So you know it creates a closed box of what they’re ordering and what I’m expected to deliver and the by-product is a lot of happy clients because it helps you guys get on the same page and avoid confusion.
Conclusion and Resources
so yeah that’s what a Fiverr gig is it’s a posting that you’re able to post on Fiverr advertising your services for sale and when a buyer comes across that gig. They’re able to purchase your services and you’re able to make some money. So I hope this article was helpful I hope I’ve explained quickly what a gig is and why I think the gig system is a good system for freelancers. I hope you know I wish you luck as a freelancer on Fiverr so if you want to create your gig I have a bunch of articles on this website that’ll help you do that you can follow the steps that I outline or you can figure it out for yourself whatever you prefer and thanks for reading and until next time cheers.
